United Kingdom, London Court of Appeal: ‘Government ban on “Palestine Action” is lawful’

London (United Kingdom), 15 June (LaPresse) – The London Court of Appeal has ruled that the British government acted lawfully when it designated the organisation Palestine Action as a terrorist group. The President of the Court, Judge Sue Carr, stated on Monday that the group is not a civil disobedience organisation, as it claimed, but that it operated through clandestine cells to destroy the property of defence companies and military bases. “It is untenable to describe Palestine Action as a non-violent organisation,” Carr said. The ruling overturns a February decision by three senior High Court judges, who had ruled that, although the group promoted its political cause through certain criminal acts, the scale of its activities did not justify the ban, which had remained in force following the government’s appeal.
