Rome, 3 March (LaPresse) – The Board of Directors of the Venice Biennale, chaired by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, has confirmed Alberto Barbera as Artistic Director of the Cinema section for 2027 and 2028. Alberto Barbera, whose term as Artistic Director, approved in 2024 by the Board of Directors, expires after the upcoming 83rd Venice International Film Festival (2 – 12 September 2026), has been confirmed for the next two years, 2027 and 2028, “in consideration of the results achieved in the recognised quality of the selections, in the discovery and international launch of new talent, in the dissemination and growth of film culture and in the expansion of the audience”, as stated in a note from the Biennale.
