Rome, 14 May (LaPresse) – Marco Bellocchio’s *Portobello*, starring an extraordinary Fabrizio Gifuni as Enzo Tortora, has been named ‘Series of the Year’ for 2026. The announcement was made by the Italian Film Journalists’ Association (SNGCI), alongside the shortlists of five finalists in the traditional categories of Comedy, Crime, Drama, Dramedy and TV Film, which will be voted on in the coming days ahead of the awards ceremony on 6 June in Naples, once again organised in collaboration with the Campania Region Film Commission and with the support of the MiC Directorate-General for Cinema and Audiovisuals, as well as institutional partners and private sponsors. Presented out of competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, Portobello recounts the sensational miscarriage of justice suffered by Enzo Tortora, one of Rai television’s most popular journalists. Alongside Fabrizio Gifuni, an outstanding cast featuring actors such as Lino Musella, Barbora Bobulova, Romana Maggiora Vergano and, among others, Paolo Pierobon, Fausto Russo Alesi, Irene Maiorino, Alessandro Preziosi, Gianfranco Gallo, Pier Giorgio Bellocchio and Davide Mancini. The series, written by Marco Bellocchio with Stefano Bises, Giordana Mari and Peppe Fiore, features cinematography by Francesco Di Giacomo, production design by Andrea Castorina, costumes by Daria Calvelli, editing by Francesca Calvelli, and music by Teho Teardo. Portobello is the first Italian HBO Original series produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for Our Films and by Simone Gattoni for Kavac Film, in association with Rai Fiction and The Apartment (a Fremantle group company), available on HBO Max. Portobello will receive an award in Naples on the final evening of the 2026 Nastri d’Argento Grandi Serie awards.
