Milan, 14 May (LaPresse) – The extensive low-pressure system over Europe is driving weather fronts towards Italy which, between Friday and Saturday, will bring further showers and thunderstorms, locally of considerable intensity, particularly along the central Tyrrhenian coast of the peninsula. Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the regions concerned – which are responsible for activating civil protection systems in the affected areas – has issued a severe weather warning that supplements and extends the previous one. These weather phenomena, affecting various parts of the country, could lead to hydrogeological and hydraulic risks, which are summarised in a national bulletin on critical conditions and alerts available on the Department’s website (www.protezionecivile.gov.it). The warning forecasts scattered to widespread rainfall, including showers and thunderstorms, from late morning tomorrow, Friday 15 May, across Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio and the western parts of Abruzzo and Molise. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, strong gusts of wind, localised hailstorms and frequent lightning.
