Milan, 1 July (LaPresse) – It is a special birthday for Partisan Sandra Gilardelli, who turns 100 today. "A life dedicated to passing on the memory of that dramatic struggle against fascism, to prevent that history from being rewritten, forgotten or, worse, distorted. Telling the story of the Partisan movement in schools, as you do, which saw many young people who shared dramatic but also happy moments with you, has a very important political, cultural and educational value," recalled the president of ANPI Milan, Primo Minelli. Gilardelli, who was awarded the Ambrogino d'Oro on 7 December 2024, was a courier in the “Cesare Battisti” Brigade in the Verbano mountains from 1943 until Liberation in April 1945. "Dear Sandra, your stories in schools have a civic sense of not losing sight of the values of the Constitution born out of the Resistance, in order to raise a generation that knows how to build a better Italy and a better world. The anti-fascism you represent is highly relevant today. Milan is proud of you and your story, Milan thanks you, your Ambrogino d'Oro really has an important political and civic meaning. The ANPI embraces you and thanks you," concluded the provincial president of the ANPI in Milan.
