Rome, 22 May (LaPresse) – The Community of Sant’Egidio expresses its condolences on the passing of Carlo Petrini, recalling “his steadfast vision of a table for everyone, where good, fair and sustainable food could be found”. Over the course of a long-standing friendship, the founder of Slow Food supported various solidarity initiatives by Sant’Egidio, starting with the Christmas lunches for the poor, to which he sent his famous Piedmontese agnolotti. Petrini, who shared with Pope Francis a deep concern for the care of creation, had also worked with the Community to establish Slow Food vegetable gardens in Malawi, one of the poorest and most rural countries in Africa.”
