Barcelona (Spain), 17 April (LaPresse) – Elly Schlein, secretary of the Democratic Party (PD), who is in Barcelona for the Global Progressive Mobilisation (GPM), said she had been “very impressed” by the “enormous interest” generated by the referendum on the justice system held in Italy. It has generated ‘great hope in Europe’ and also ‘beyond Europe’, she emphasised on the sidelines of the summit, noting that she had discussed it with her Turkish and Japanese colleagues. “The era of the far-right nationalists is over, and it began to end in Italy, precisely through that great mobilisation of civil society and the younger generations, which led 15 million people to say no to a flawed reform and to defend the Constitution,” added Schlein, “then, a few weeks later, another very strong signal came with Orban’s defeat, which was also a defeat for Trump, who supported him”, as well as “for Meloni and Salvini, who sent videos in his support”.
