Tehran, June 6 (LaPresse) – Iran "strongly condemns the military attack by the United States Army" on "coastal radar and surveillance facilities in the Sirik region and on Qeshm Island, whose task is to protect the country's border security and the safety of navigation in international waterways," considering it a clear violation of the ceasefire reached on April 8 and "a military aggression against the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic." This is stated in a press release from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, cited by the Mehr news agency. "This reprehensible action, carried out in continuation of the hostile and terrorist-provocative behavior of the United States towards the Islamic Republic, demonstrates the total disregard of the US government for the fundamental principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations," the ministry added. Iran's "powerful Armed Forces, within the framework of the inherent right to legitimate defense and with full vigilance, determination and authority, have given a proportionate and effective response to this act of aggression, preventing the evil objectives of the planners of this aggression from being achieved," the statement reads. "The repeated violation of the ceasefire by the United States once again shows that not only does the US government lack the will to reduce tensions and return to the path of stability, but it also poses serious risks to regional security through its adventurous actions. Responsibility for all the effects and consequences of these illegal actions, as well as any possible escalation of tensions, will fall on the US government," the note concludes.
