Rome, Apr 25 (LaPresse) – “Today Italy celebrates the eighty-first Anniversary of Liberation. The Italian people remember one of the decisive moments of their history: the end of Nazi occupation and the defeat of Fascist oppression, which had denied Italians freedom and democracy. Today we celebrate the values enshrined in the republican Constitution, which have allowed Italy to become what it is and what is recognised by all: a strong and authoritative Nation, a leading player on the European and international stage.” Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Liberation. “Today we find ourselves in the words of the President of the Republic and renew our commitment so that April 25 is ‘a moment of collective reflection and national cohesion’. It is a wish we make our own, because it is from harmony and respect for others that the Nation can draw renewed strength,” Meloni added. “Today, in an era shaken by wars and increasingly insidious threats to democratic systems, we reiterate that love of freedom is the only true antidote against every form of totalitarianism and authoritarianism. In Europe and in the world,” the Prime Minister concluded.
