Rome, 3 May (LaPresse) – Regarding the car market, in light of the new tariffs announced by the US, “first of all, we note that our exports to the United States increased by over 7.2% in 2025 as well, the best performance among European countries, with positive signs this year too. American consumers do not want to do without ‘Made in Italy’ products. However, the new measures concern us because of their consequences for the automotive supply chain, which also produces for German car manufacturers, who could suffer a greater impact than announced.” So said Adolfo Urso, Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, in an interview with La Verità. “All the more so because the ‘internal tariffs’ that persist within the EU have not yet been removed, as the process of revision and simplification is too slow and cumbersome,” he adds. “The Industrial Accelerator Act must come into force immediately; we cannot wait until 2028. The revision of the CO2 regulation must be radical and unequivocally affirm technological neutrality, including the use of biofuels; the revision of the perverse ETS system must be fast-tracked and carried out in tandem with the revision of the CHAM. 2026 must be the year of reforms in Europe.”
