Rome, June 2 (LaPresse) – "I voted for the first time at age 22, in 1963, to elect the Parliament. On that occasion, voter turnout—the percentage of our fellow citizens who went to the polls to vote—was 93%. As I made my way to the polling station, I wasn’t exactly excited, but I felt a deep sense of purpose. I was almost proud to be able to fulfill this role and to exercise this right. I was determined to do so, partly because at 22 I was already active in a political party." So said President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella during his appearance on ‘Ne parliamo con il Presidente’ on Rai1.
