Turin, May 10 (LaPresse) – Paul Magnier claimed his second victory in this year's Giro d'Italia, winning the third stage of the race in a sprint finish. The 175-km flat stage from Plovdiv to Sofia was the final stage in Bulgaria before the race moves to Italy. The French sprinter from Soudal Quick-Step beat Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) and Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen (Unibet Rose Rockets) in a photo finish. Also in the top ten were Matteo Malucelli (XDS Astana Team), fifth, Davide Ballerini (XDS Astana Team), eighth, and Enrico Zanoncello (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber), tenth. No changes in the general classification: Guillermo Thomas Silva (XDS Astana Team) remains the leader ahead of Florian Stork (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) and Egan Bernal (Netcompany INEOS), both four seconds behind. The peloton will now head to Italy: the fourth stage is scheduled for Tuesday, a 138-km hilly route from Catanzaro to Cosenza.
