Milan, 15 May (LaPresse) – "Max (Allegri, ed.) and the team have done a brilliant job for almost the entire season. We were top of the table and in the running for the Scudetto right up until the match against Lazio. And then, in the last five matches, we’re in danger of throwing the season away. I’ve been in the world of sport for three decades; I know these things happen, but that doesn’t make you feel any better. Now we’re focused on winning the last two matches. But, I must say, we’re operating in a difficult environment: so much controversy and so many falsehoods. Frankly, I’m a bit disappointed.” This was stated by Milan owner Gerry Cardinale during a lengthy interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. Cardinale wants to refute “for example, the idea that I’m only interested in money and not in winning. It’s absurd. If you look at my life and my career, I’ve always won,” he added. “But it’s the results that must speak for themselves, and when performances don’t reach their potential, as is the case now, I’m definitely agitated. I don’t coach, I don’t score goals, I don’t defend, but I can do my bit: my bit is to provide the financial resources so that we can continue to field a winning team, not only in Serie A, but, hopefully, in Europe too. That’s my job, and I’m pretty good at it,” said Cardinale.
