Turin, 25 May (LaPresse) – ‘It was lovely to be back here; it’s a special tournament and today was tough against a strong opponent. She won a tournament a few weeks ago and I’m happy with my very solid performance.’ This is what Jasmine Paolini said after her opening-round victory over Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, ranked 45th in the WTA rankings. ‘I kept telling myself to stay focused and in the match, to try to return deep and keep her moving, and I’m glad I managed to do that. I think I played better,’ she continued. ‘I have so many good memories here. It’s a special place for me and I hope to be able to harness this energy to play another good match.’
