Milan, 25 May (LaPresse) – ‘No derbies in the final stages of the season? This is something we’ll have to take into account when providing the 400-plus variables to those drawing up the fixture list. There are sporting and non-sporting variables; we’ll certainly include a parameter to avoid derbies at the end of the season. But perfection is not of this world.’ So said Serie A League president Ezio Simonelli, speaking on Radio Anch’Io Sport on Radio1, the day after the end of the league season, which saw Roma and Como qualify for the Champions League and chaos in the Turin derby.
