Milan, 3 June (LaPresse) – Aryna Sabalenka has suffered a stunning defeat in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season. The Belarusian tennis player, world No. 1, was defeated in a comeback by Russia’s Diana Shnaider, ranked 23rd in the WTA rankings, who won in three sets with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 in 2 hours and 14 minutes. Sabalenka, last year’s finalist in Paris, was leading 6-3, 5-3 before suffering a dramatic collapse that saw her lose 10 games in a row. For Shnaider, this is her first semi-final in a Grand Slam tournament; she will now face Poland’s Maja Chwalinska.
