Rome, 14 June (LaPresse) – In World Cup Group E, Germany ran riot in their opening match in Houston, thrashing Curaçao – making their World Cup debut – 7-1. The Germans took the lead through Nmecha in the 6th minute, before Comenencia equalised in the 21st minute, giving the small Caribbean nation hope. In the 38th minute, Schlotterbeck restored Germany’s lead, and they ended the first half 3-1 up thanks to a penalty from Havertz in the final minute of stoppage time. In the second half, Germany stepped up a gear and ran riot with goals from Musiala (47’), Brown (68’), Undav (78’) and Havertz again (88’).
