Turin, 5 June (LaPresse) – The most eagerly awaited hearing in the initial stages of the investigation into the fire at the Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, which claimed 41 lives and left over 100 people injured on New Year’s Eve, is scheduled to take place today in Sion. The accounts of Jacques and Jessica Moretti, the bar’s owners, are to be compared. Initially, according to Swiss media reports, the prosecutors had summoned only Jacques Moretti. The Frenchman was due to be questioned on 7 April, but he presented a medical certificate and his hearing was therefore postponed, without a new date being set. Subsequently, the magistrates decided to summon Jessica Moretti as well, thereby proceeding with a joint hearing. The two suspects will have to clarify their respective accounts of how they managed the events on New Year’s Eve before the Deputy Attorney General of Valais, Catherine Seppey, and over 70 lawyers representing the civil parties. The hearing, which is taking place at the Energypolis campus, is also being attended by lawyer Romain Jordan, appointed by the Italian government to act as a civil party. Also present at the hearing is Laetitia Brodard-Sitre, who lost her son Arthur in the fire.
