Johannesburg (South Africa), 10 June (LaPresse) – Several attackers killed 12 people and injured at least nine others in a mass shooting that took place late yesterday evening in the South African city of Johannesburg. Police believe that more than 10 armed individuals were dropped off by a minibus in an informal settlement in the Cleveland suburb of Johannesburg, where they then opened fire on the crowd. The victims are nine men and three women. Eleven of them died at the scene, whilst the twelfth died in hospital. The police are searching for the attackers, but no arrests have been made so far. The motive for the shooting is not yet clear. Informal settlements in South Africa are unplanned residential areas, usually consisting of shacks or similar temporary structures.
